Steel is known as “enviro-metal “is the world’s most recyclable material. It is a natural material, from a chemical point of view its basic constituent is iron, which belongs to one of the most widespread elements of the Earth’s crust, therefore it does not burden the environment with harmful substances.
Ecology and lightweight steel structures may at first seem incompatible, but after a detailed research it turns out different. An ordinary person understands “ecological” architecture as a use of building materials that are found in nature. Brick and concrete do not belong in these selections. Iron is mainly found in oxidized form, in its original form it is found in ore veins. Only materials that can be considered as natural are stone, unburnt brick and wood. However, wood requires further modifications, it must be treated with “natural” chemicals. Nature “mixtures” are required for stone cladding.
According to another point of view, an eco-friendly building is a building without any negative impact on the environment. This point of view can be considered as closer to reality. Construction made of steel requires less energy than wood or commonly used materials. Steel is an inert material with a good impact on the environment, reducing waste.
…Did you know that 3-4 recycled old cars are enough to build a 150m² house using a patented construction system. While at least 30-40 trees would have to be killed to provide enough wood to build a wooden house for a 150 m2 ?!!!
